FARMINGDALE, NY — The Marketplace at 317 Main Street opened on Thursday in Farmingdale. The outpost, found in the back of the American gastropub that shares an address with its name, features an assortment of grab-and-go goods, food and materials for the home cook. The marketplace will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. A wide array of desserts, coffees, sandwiches, soups, gelatos and meat and cheese boards are available. For those looking to prepare supper at home, the business is also selling take-and-make steaks, chops and pasta. Chef Eric LeVine previously told Patch that he and restaurateur Joe Fortuna always planned to open a marketplace after founding 317 Main Street in 2019. LeVine was recently joined at 317 by Kristina Grimes, former owner of Le Petit Café and a fellow graduate of The Culinary Institute of America. LeVine in January praised Grimes' ability to run a marketplace-type store and connection to the community as reasons for her joining 317. "I'm excited to have her on our team and be part of our future and what we're doing," LeVine said. "It just made sense, and it works out really well for all of us. We can continue to build what we are, and take that part of it to the next level." The Marketplace at 317 Main Street was originally scheduled to open Monday, but the date was pushed due to the snowstorm that hit Long Island.
