NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven man was sentenced to 21 months for his role in a drug trafficking ring, according to a statement from John H. Durham, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. Tyrese Stanley, aka "Scoot," 30, will also serve four years of supervised release.
The case stems from a joint federal and local police investigation into the "Island Brothers" gang. The drug trafficking organization had established a base of operation in Fitchburg, MA.
Investigators found in a wire tap that Stanley was arranging to buy heroin for resale, according to the statement.
Twenty-seven people have been charged as a result of the investigation.
Stanley pleaded guilty in September to one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute heroin.
