HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — One of five hot spots for the coronavirus in Harford County is in Havre de Grace, Health Officer Dr. David Bishai said this week. Overall in the county, Bishai said that the "epidemic levels are in decline from where they were at their peak at the end of December." On average, people in Harford County have a 9 percent chance of getting the virus. "However, in some of the ZIP codes, the rate is double that," he said. "There are five high-risk ZIP codes where the rates are much, much higher than average." As far as positivity rates, "there are some hot spots," Bishai said. "Those ZIP codes correspond to Churchville, Darlington, Havre de Grace, Jarrettsville and Kingsville." Presenting an update on the COVID-19 situation in Harford County before the County Council Tuesday night, Bishai said: "We are doing our best with contact tracing to try to understand why those ZIP codes are having a higher level of COVID-19 transfer." It is a trend that health officials have been watching. "Those rates have been high in those ZIP codes for the last two weeks," Bishai said. "And we certainly hope that those epidemic rates do begin to decline." Here is the latest ZIP code data from the Harford County Health Department, which is updated every Monday: Courtesy of the Harford County Health Department.
