GAITHERSBURG, MD — Members of the Montgomery County Police Department visited Washington, D.C., Wednesday to pay their respects to fallen U.S. Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick. The 42-year-old police officer laid in honor in the building's Rotunda on Feb. 2. Among those who paid their respects earlier this week include President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, as well as scores of congressional lawmakers, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). "Our promise to Brian's family is that we will never forget his sacrifice," Pelosi said in remarks during a memorial ceremony on Wednesday. "Each day, when members enter the Capitol, this temple of democracy, we will remember his sacrifice and that of others that day who fought so hard to protect the Capitol and the Congress." After the ceremony, Sicknick's cremated remains were laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery.
