Nashua's Terrell Confirmed To New Hampshire's State Board Of Education

Chris Sununu issued the following statement after the Executive Council voted 4-1 to confirm Ryan Terrell, of Nashua, to serve a term ending January 31st, 2024, on the State Board of Education: "Ryan is highly qualified to serve in this role and will bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and an outside perspective to the State Board of Education," said Governor Chris Sununu. "I would like to thank Councilor Gatsas, Wheeler, Kenney, and Stevens for their vote today, ushering in a new era on the Executive Council that weighs qualified nominees on their resume, not their politics. I congratulate Ryan on this tremendous achievement – he will do a phenomenal job." The only executive councilor to vote against Terrell was Cinde Warmington, a Democrat, of District 2 in Concord. When asked why she voted against only the second person of color nominated to the board, Warmington said in a statement: "I spoke with Board of Education nominees Ryan Terrell and Richard Sala prior to the vote today. They are both in favor of school vouchers and charter school expansion, which drain resources from public schools and raise local property taxes. I will only vote for nominees to the state Board of Education who support our state public schools and students."
