LAKE COUNTY, IL — A Round Lake Beach man has been indicted on first-degree murder charges over allegations he shot and killed a suburban teen following a fight over a stolen car in a Volo parking lot last month, prosecutors said Wednesday.
Lynell P. Glover, 35, of the 2300 block of North Old Pond Lane in Round Lake Beach, was originally charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm and obstructing justice in connection with the incident that happened on Jan. 3, according to online court records. Those charges were upgraded Wednesday, and Glover could now face between 51 years and life in prison if convicted on all three counts of first-degree murder.

Glover is accused of fatally shooting Anthony Awad, 17, of Hanover Park, and injuring a Carol Stream teen after he spotted them in his car in the area of Route 12 and Route 120. Authorities say his car was stolen in the days prior to the incident.
The teens fled in the vehicle, which ran out of gas as the teens were pulling into a parking lot in the 30400 block of Route 12, police said.
A struggle followed, and Glover fired a gun several times, fatally injuring Awad and wounding the other teen, who was taken to a hospital, police said. Glover sustained minor non-gunshot wounds and did not need medical treatment. He remained at the scene after calling police, and was brought in for questioning by sheriff's deputies.
Glover is being held at the Lake County Jail where his bail is currently set at $1 million. He is expected to appear in court on Monday for an arraignment.
