Pittsburgh-Area Man Charged In 3-Year-Old's Beating Death

CORAOPOLIS, PA — A Burgettstown man is charged with beating his girlfriend's 3-year-old son to death. Tyler Mason has been charged with homicide in connection with the death of Aiden Lombardi. After police were called to a Pennsylvania Avenue home on Tuesday for an unresponsive child, Mason originally was charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of children for allegedly beating the toddler while watching him. The boy later died at Children's Hospital; the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office ruled the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head. Mason is being held in the Allegheny County Jail.
