ST. LOUIS PARK, MN — Lawmakers in St. Louis Park are considering lowering the city's speed limit to 20 MPH on some roads, following a recent trend in the metro. Last year, Minneapolis and St. Paul lowered their speed limits to 20 mph for local residential streets; 25 mph for larger, arterial city-owned streets; and 30-plus mph for a few city-owned streets. "We believe our data support lower speed limits on city streets," Deb Heiser, the St. Louis Park city engineering director, told the Star Tribune. "Ultimately, slower is safer." Golden Valley and Edina are also looking towards lower speed limits. Read more at the Star Tribune. Also read: Minneapolis, St. Paul Announce Lower Speed Limits
