Press release from the City of Millbrae: February 1, 2021 Flushing disposable face masks down the toilet is detrimental to the sewer system. It clogs sewage pipes and causes overflows at your home and at the City's wastewater facilities. Along with disinfecting wipes, baby wipes and paper towels, used disposable face masks need to be disposed of in the garbage. DO NOT throw them on the street or parking lot, and DO NOT flush them down the toilet. Wearing face masks is essential to fighting COVID-19.
