PASADENA, CA — A Roscoe's in Pasadena was robbed of its iconic chicken and waffles at gunpoint on Wednesday by a man who was denied service at the restaurant after refusing to wear a face mask, according to reports.
The armed robbery occurred around 5:40 p.m. at Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles on Lake Avenue by an unidentified man, KTLA reports.
A cook with the restaurant told KTLA that the man was turned away from the business earlier in the night after refusing to put on a mask. The still-maskless man later returned to the restaurant brandishing a gun demanding food from the employees.
"The guy just said, 'put all the chicken in the bag,'" Robert Gonzalez told the station. "I understand we got some good chicken, but man."
It did not appear the thief took anything other than food, according to police. No injuries were reported, and the suspect remained at large.
Anyone with information about the suspect's identity was asked to call the Pasadena Police Department at 626-744-4620.
Anonymous tips, call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
