SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — CVS Health will soon administer coronavirus vaccines to eligible populations at CVS Pharmacy locations in 100 communities across California, including in San Diego County, the company announced. "One of our greatest strengths as a company is our presence in communities across the country, which makes us an ideal partner for administering vaccines in a safe, convenient, and familiar manner," said CVS Health CEO and President Karen Lynch. "We continue to be grateful for the commitment of our frontline colleagues whose dedication has allowed us to deliver care and peace of mind throughout the pandemic." CVS is receiving a supply of approximately 81,900 doses from the federal pharmacy partnership program for a limited California rollout. Participating CVS Pharmacies will start offering COVID-19 vaccinations Feb. 11 and appointments will become available for booking as early as Feb. 9 as stores receive shipments of the vaccine. CVS told Patch its vaccine rollout is coming to pharmacies in the following San Diego area communities: Carlsbad, Chula Vista, Del Mar, Fallbrook, La Jolla, Oceanside, San Diego, San Marcos and Solana Beach. A list of specific stores will be available on CVS.com as stores receive shipments of vaccines and appointments become available. Vaccines will be available to people who meet the criteria of the state of California, which the state will confirm prior to the rollout at CVS. Patients must register in advance at CVS.com or through the CVS Pharmacy app. People without internet access can call CVS customer service at 800-746-7287. Walk-in vaccinations without an appointment will not be provided. California is part of an 11-state rollout at approximately 335 CVS Pharmacy locations across the country. CVS Health said it will continue to expand vaccination locations, with a goal of eventually administering 20-25 million shots per month throughout the country, subject to product availability. Patch editors Maggie Fusek and Courtney Teague contributed to this report.
