MOORESVILLE, NC — An assistant principal of an Iredell County elementary school has been arrested following a report to police he was suspected of sexually exploiting a minor, Mooresville Police Department said Thursday. MPD received the report Jan. 26, and identified Shaun Michael Bock as the suspect. Bock is an assistant principal at Coddle Creek Elementary, a position he's held since July 2020, Iredell-Statesville Schools said in a statement. "Based on information received from law enforcement, the alleged victim is not a student of Iredell-Statesville Schools," ISS said. Following interviews with witnesses, police investigators executed a search warrant Wednesday at Bock's home, located in the 100 block of Steam Engine Drive in Mooresville, as well as the school. Bock was charged with one count of second-degree exploitation of a minor, MPD said. Following his arrest, he was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, and a secured bond was set at $10,000. Bock was suspended from his position at Coddle Creek Elementary Feb. 3 pending an investigation from MPD and the school system, ISS said. "We will work in full cooperation with authorities to ensure this matter is thoroughly investigated," ISS Superintendent Jeff James said in a statement. "Our children are our most precious asset. Our job is to protect our children at all cost."
