Introduction to Sewing - April 10th & 11th, 2021 / 10am - 3pm SEWING FUNDAMENTALS If you’ve ever wanted to create your own garments but weren’t sure where to begin, this workshop is here to help get you started. Sewing your own garments is rewarding whether you are a home sewing enthusiast or want to start your own line. In this workshop we will guide you through the process of sewing a basic drawstring pant and tee which will give you the skills to start creating! In this workshop you will learn: · How to set up a commercial sewing machine · Basic sewing techniques for woven and knit fabrics · Pressing techniques · To read a commercial and industrial pattern · Step-by-step instruction on sewing a pant including two types of pockets, topstitching, and hemming · Step-by-step instruction on sewing a tee including seaming and hemming knits and inserting a neckband This workshop is tailored to meet students at various skill levels and there are opportunities for more advanced techniques to be introduced if time allows. Students will be allowed to work at their own pace and will have individualized instruction throughout Materials: Sewing Machine and tools will be provided during the course.
