First-Plymouth Congregational Church seeks a full-time custodian with skills in custodial maintenance. The successful candidate will be a team member in a dynamic, progressive organization that creates positive, engaging community programming and worship opportunities. The custodianwill: Keep building and property in clean and orderly condition. Perform routine maintenance activities. Performs both general and heavy cleaning duties. Performs outdoor tasks (mowing, trimming trees, snow removal) year-round. Room set-up for worship services, events and programs held at the church. Manages inventory of cleaning supplies. Helps monitor and keep the building safe and secure. Notifies Head Building Manager regarding the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems. Work Hours & Benefits Fulltime position with paid benefits. Must be available to work a somewhat flexible schedule (some weekends, nights and holidays). Salary: Commensurate with experience; Range from $24,000-26,000. Additional compensation available for special events. Custodian Qualifications: •Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures •Ability to stand, walk, and bend for many hours •Ability to perform repetitive motion for long periods of time •Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutions •Experience with outdoor machinery (mowers, snow blowers). •Background in handling, mixing, and using cleaning chemicals •Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules •Communication skills •Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders and work at particular heights Education and Experience Requirements: •High school diploma or equivalent •Basic math skills •High school courses in shop may be preferred for jobs involving repair work The custodian reports directly to the Building Manager and Senior Minister as a part of a collaborative, creative team, and could be called upon to work on a variety of projects and issues.
