Anyone around here know about server setups and drive arrays

So a friend of mine is sending me an old cisco rackmount server. I'll be running linux on it. Best choice for servers I think. I've got a pool of a dozen hard drives, that have been already set up with software raid. I need advice on equipment to buy for hooking them up to the server, that won't try to impose their own interface on them. Anybody got some advice? Drop me a line.
