BRAINTREE, MA — A COVID-19 vaccination site opened at Braintree Town Hall Wednesday for residents 75 and older, town officials announced. The site was open to 100 people with 90 of the doses going to seniors and the remaining doses going to health care workers, first responders or other Phase 1 residents who have yet o receive the vaccine. Mayor Charles Kokoros told State House News Service around 1,500 residents became eligible Monday for COVID-19 vaccines because of their age. "Folks are just so excited to begin the process of having freedom again," Kokoros told State House News. "It has been a very positive experience for my staff members to set up these appointments for our residents." Appointments opened statewide Monday for residents over 75 to get vaccinated, but seniors have struggled to find appointments due to lack of doses or struggling to navigate the state's website In some cases, residents have waited hours and later found out all the slots were filled. Gov. Charlie Baker admitted Wednesday the state's vaccine rollout has been disappointing. "I'm not happy with where we are. I know a lot of other people aren't either," Gov. Charlie Baker said Wednesday after touring Fenway Park, one of the state's mass vaccination sites.
