PATCHOGUE, NY — Nearly a year after Long Island saw its first coronavirus case, a local hospital discharged its 1,000th coronavirus patient.
Richard Raia was first sent to the Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue last month with COVID-19. However, Tuesday marked a momentous day not just for Raia, but for the hospital as well.

As Raia made his exit, the hospital staff stood socially distanced to cheer him on.
