Press release from Malta House: Feb. 2, 2021 Malta House has had to "reimagine" their Casual Friday Dinner this year. The nonprofit hosts the annual event every February at the St. Ann's Club in Norwalk but COVID-19 has forced them to create a virtual event this year. "For the Love of Babies– A Partnership with Planet Pizza, Norwalk will be a month-long, virtual event to raise funds to support the women and babies that call Malta House home. "We are making lemonade out of lemons", said Carey Dougherty, Executive Director of Malta House. "We decided to partner with Dave Kuban of Planet Pizza because he is incredibly kind and generous and our moms absolutely love his food!" Kuban was honored last year by Moffly Media as Outstanding Philanthropic Business in Fairfield County, recognized for his acts of kindness throughout the COVID-19 crisis when he provided meals to front line health workers and emergency service professionals in the community. During the entire month of February, the $40 event ticket provides a three-course meal including salad, pasta and an entrée from a preset menu, and orders can be picked up or delivered via Planet Pizza. With two or more tickets, a free bottle of wine will be included. The event has an added component of "Tip Your Waiter!" "Casual Friday Dinners are always served by local "celebrity waiters", Kim Petrone, Malta House board chairman explains. "The tips that our celebrity waiters get are a big part of the funds we raise during the event. We welcome tips for our "virtual waiters". During ticket purchase, one can choose the celebrity waiter and donate a "tip" in their honor.
