HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park Police Department and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt. INCIDENTSTHEFT OF LOST/UNATTENDED ITEMSomeone stole a wallet that had been left unattended at a cash register in the New Balance store at 610 Central Ave. Credit cards inside were later used fraudulently at a store at Northbrook Court. UNLAWFUL USE OF A WEAPONOfficers were called to Gerber Collision & Glass, 1325 Park Ave. West, around 10 a.m. on Jan. 19 for a report of a man with a gun. Staff told police a customer was upset over the quality of repair work. While he was moving things from a loaner car to his Toyota Tacoma, he pulled out a black handgun and holstered it near his waistband, police were told. He then drove away. The Lake County State's Attorney's Office approved felony charges of aggravated assault and unlawful use of a weapon and an arrest warrant was issued. No further information was immediately available from police. HOME BURGLARYSomeone broke into a home in the 1900 block of Sunnyside Avenue and stole a safe, cash from inside a slot machine and various other items at some point prior to Jan. 20. Someone got into the home through a back door. It did not appear they forced their way in. COMMERCIAL BURGLARYFive people broke in to Muller Honda, 550 Skokie Valley Road, shortly before 6 a.m. on Jan. 24. Inside, they found four service vehicles with keys inside and left through the bay doors, stealing three CR-Vs and a Civic model. CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLES A hole was found in the driver's side window of a Nissan parked in the 500 block of Onwentsia Avenue shortly before 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 16. It was not clear what caused the damage, which occurred sometime after 9 p.m. the previous night.At some point between 10 a.m. Jan. 21 and 9 p.m. Jan. 22, someone spray painted in green on the side of a black Jeep parked in the 1500 block of Robin Hood Place. ARRESTS Joseph Armour, 52, of the 9900 block of South Parnell Avenue, Chicago, and Zavion Armour, 22, of the 33500 block of North Idlewild Drive, Grayslake, were both arrested around 6 a.m. on Jan. 14 after an officer on speed enforcement at Route 41 and Lake Cook Road pulled over a Nissan headed north at more than than 90 mph. The officer reported noticing the strong smell of fresh marijuana and a plastic bag of loose pills — later identified as Adderall and Xanax. During a search of the car, police found a black handgun in the glove box, as well as a duffel bag, a suitcase and a metal box. Inside the duffel bag, police reported finding about 70 grams suspected marijuana, individually packaged into 20 containers. The metal box contained another 427 grams of cannabis. Also found in the car: an arrest report for Zavion Armour in charge of distribution of marijuana and hallucinogens from the Hutchinson, Kansas, police department. Joseph Armour was charged with two counts of felony unlawful possession of cannabis, one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor counts of speeding and driving with a suspended license. Zavion Armour was charged with two counts felony unlawful possession of cannabis and wo counts of felony unlawful use of a weapon. Ernest E. Reyes, 29, of the 7300 block of North Oakley Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 6:30 a.m. on Jan. 15 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater, driving under the influence of alcohol and other substances and unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver. He was also issued citations for use of unsafe tires and illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol by a driver. Cloyd Harris, 44, of the 2700 block of Hampton Parkway, Evanston, was arrested around 9 p.m. Jan. 31 at an unspecified location and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater. He was also cited for driving on the sidewalk, police reported.
