Press release from the City of Shakopee: February 3, 2021 Back by popular demand, the Shakopee Police Department is offering residents a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes of police work through its virtual Citizens Academy. The department will be offering a three-week academy on Facebook with live chats about a variety of police topics: Feb. 10: How to become a police officer Feb. 17: A look inside the medical bags Feb. 24: Search and arrest warrants No need to register; just log onto the department's Shakopee Police Department's Facebook page at 6 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 10-24. The virtual Citizens Academy was first offered in October 2020 to give residents a safe way to connect with the department and ask officers questions.
