Description
PLEASANTON, CA — Firefighters suspect arson in a fire Tuesday morning in an abandoned building in unincorporated Alameda County, near Pleasanton.
A fire was reported around 8:40 a.m., halfway up the south side of Santos Ranch Road, said Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Batallion Chief Kurtis Dickey in an email. Firefighters discovered the blaze in an area with abandoned buildings that appeared to be a former camp or community compound, with several foundations and rock chimneys scattered about brush and trees.
Firefighters will not be able to confirm whether that fire was started due to arson because the damage was so severe, Dickey said. Arson is suspected, in part, because part of another building in the area was found burnt and smoldering.
The causes are unknown, but appear to be intentional. The investigation is ongoing.
Firefighters do not believe the fires resulted in any financial loss.
