Eighth Blackbird, a four-time GRAMMY Award-winning Chicago-based music ensemble opens their Winter 2021 Chicago Artists Workshop (CAW) live streamed concert series with six-time Apollo Winner Tarrey Torae Valentine's Day weekend, 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 13. Torae's husband, J. Ivy joins her in this concert featuring songs from Torae's upcoming album of love songs, "Catching Feelings," to be released in the coming weeks. All CAW concerts are hosted at the Eighth Blackbird production space located at 4045 N. Rockwell St. These live-streamed ticketed events also feature limited in-person seating. For more information visit eighthblackbird.org. Torae is a six-time Apollo Winner and has appeared and written on two GRAMMY winning albums for her work with Kanye West and John Legend. Torae has appeared at numerous summer festivals and live music venues throughout the United States and beyond. Performance credits include several national tours including a 55-city Coca Cola NAACP Tour, the Nissan/Essence Magazine Moyo Music Mix Tour, The Rock the Bells Festival Tour and Lollapalooza. She has also performed on stages with The Roots, Common, Talib Kweli, Patti Labelle and Stevie Wonder and has shared stages with Jill Scott, Mos Def, Nas, Usher, El Debarge, the late great Gil‐Scott Heron, Will iAm, Stevie Wonder, and many more. Most recently she was featured singing "Lift Every Voice" in the Chicago Bulls' 2021 MLK Day Tribute and can be seen as Madame Quickly in the film "Hal King"premiering on Amazon Prime, ITunes, and other VOD platforms Feb 9. Her voice can be heard on records by J. Ivy, Pete Rock, Freeway, and The Last Poets. Her single and EP releases include "Let It Go," "Take Me Home" and "Freedom Ride."
