DUBLIN, CA — Former Dublin City Council member Arun Goel was chosen to fill the vacant Division 5 seat for the Dublin San Ramon Services District Board. Goel was among four finalists chosen and interviewed after no candidates filed to run ahead of November's election. His district represents Dublin residents east of Hacienda Drive. As a director, Goel will play a role in overseeing the treatment and distribution of water to 188,000 in Dublin and San Ramon. "My heart and soul is fully into serving this community," he told DSRSD Director Richard Halket Tuesday night, according to a news release from the agency. Goel, who has served as vice mayor, lost his council seat after running for mayor and losing to fellow councilmember Melissa Hernandez. He said in a statement to the DSRSD board that his background in hydrology and hydraulics, and experience as a county flood control design engineer makes him a good candidate. He has a thorough understanding of watersheds, groundwater supply, drainage and biofiltration, according to a DSRSD news release Other finalists included: John K. Koltz, a retired civil engineer; Kashef Qaadri, a scientist and cloud architect; and Samir Qureshi, a sales operation executive. Those candidates were short-listed by the board.
