MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — Local entrepreneur and founder of Zoe's Kitchen John Cassimus has been tapped for a 12-part web-based cooking series, "Darn Hungry," filmed by SpyPoint Cameras. Recipes in the series will vary from how to master a variety of meat/wild game on the grill and in the oven to secret family recipes. "Darn Hungry" is filmed in Cassimus' home in 10-minute episodes, delivered via Spypoint Cameras Instagram feed and their website. One episode will be released every month for the rest of the year. Cassimus said he hopes that those who watch "will take away one dish they feel proud of and will want to share with friends and family as they celebrate life through great food." As the tagline for the first episode says, "Cooking doesn't have to be difficult, you just have to be willing to experiment and try new things, and maybe fall flat every once in a while. Failing is part of the experience of cooking, but riding shotgun with John, he won't steer you wrong." The first episode of "Darn Hungry" details how to cook the perfect steak. Cassimus has been a mainstay in Birmingham's business and culinary scenes, opening Jensei in Homewood, Maki Fresh in Mountain Brook and Miss Dot's in Crestline Village. In 2019, Cassimus opened Crazy Cazboy's at 136 Wildwood Parkway in Homewood Commons.
