Farmers' Market Helpers/Cooks Needed

Events

Falls Church VA

Description

Help sell locally sourced food outside at the farmers' market on the weekend. We need helpers at our market booths all around the DMV on weekend mornings. Need both cooks and 'front booth' sales people. Prefer those who are comfortable with both. We are a heritage hog farm in western Goochland County VA (between Charlottesville and Richmond) who also vends hot breakfast sandwiches featuring the pork we raise [www.HogHavenFarm.com]. This a part-time weekend opportunity, $10 to $13 per hour, plus tips and commissions (can make upwards of $20/hr on a busy day, cash payment at end of shift*). Ability to lift up to 50lbs and reliable transportation required. SUV or larger vehicle and willingness to transport things to/from market a major plus. Shifts start as early as 6am and markets are rain or shine! So can't be afraid to get up early on the weekend or to work outside on days when the weather is not so great. Please note that many days this is a very bustling, fast paced sales and restaurant/kitchen-like environment. We are interested only in people who enjoy this type of activity and understand how to work with the sense of urgency required when things get busy. If you think you have this quality, then we are willing to train you, even if you lack experience. If you are true to your word, show up when you say and on time, and know how to hustle, we want you on the team and can be flexible with your shifts. Applicants should be looking for a longer term part-time arrangement (1 year+ expectation). We are not interested in training short-term associates (will consider students that may not be present year around, but that do expect to return during breaks and holidays). Many markets run all year. Text or email - TELL US WHY YOU'RE A GOOD FIT - please no calls. [*Note: As part-time workers that are selling pre-produced farm products, using personal vehicles to move supplies, working for commissions, and most often operating alone and unsupervised, all associates are considered independent contractors and should plan to address any and all tax issues accordingly.*]
