Summary Description:
The Burner/Torcher position is responsible for reducing the size of large metal pieces by using a gas oxygen.
Essential Functions:
• Cut oversized pieces of scrap metal into the designated size and shape using a gas oxygen torch
• Inspect equipment before, during and after their shift to ensure that all tools and equipment are operating properly
• Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring work areas are clean and clear of any debris or hazardous conditions
• Alert manager to any issues with equipment
• Perform work in a safe manner, ensuring that safety is a top priority
• Provide backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed or assigned
• Adhere to PNW Metal Recycling, Inc. Time Keeping Expectations
• Adhere to all PNW Metal Recycling, Inc. safety policies and standards
• Other duties or cross-training in other positions may be assigned
Qualifications:
• At least six months of previous experience with torch cutter in a production environment
• Must be able to wear all required PPE including a respirator while cutting
• Must be able to lift 50 lb on regular basis
• Ability to stand, sit, bend, stoop, squat, walk, lift, push, pull and reach throughout entire shift
• Ability to speak and understand English; ability to speak and understand Spanish would be desired
