Description

Looking for musician(s) to start a mostly original project. I play acoustic guitar and sing. I have some original songs and would like to work toward augmenting them with additional instrumentation and maybe some additional vocals. My goal would be to work toward producing music more for the artistic expression than doing the commercial cover band thing. A few artists and records I am fond of would be Joe Henry "Kindness of the World" and "The Gospel According to Water" Alejandro Escovedo "Gravity", "13 Years", "By the Hand of the Father", etc. Randy Newman, First Aid Kit "Lion's Roar", Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, some eras of Dylan, Fairport Convention, Flaming Lips, Drive by Truckers, Eels, Camper Van Beethoven, Bevis Frond, Pitwagon, Neil Young, Rain Parade, etc. I also like playing cover songs, not trying to copy the original but, re-imagining or reinventing them in a new way. Being an "original project" is an indication that this would not be a cash cow but a form of artistic expression. However, if it could be done right, maybe some good paying gigs could arise. As far as instruments that could be utilized, I feel there is plenty of room to move. Cello, violin, pedal steel, acoustic or electric guitar, bass, accordion, mandolin, percussion, etc. could all work in. Anything from a duo to a multi-instrument conglomeration is possible. I envision more of a reflective type of sound but, have no aversion to ramping things up as well. I would like you to be fairly adept at your instrument(s) of choice, fairly serious about your craft, and fairly drama free. If any of this intrigues you, get in contact and let's have a chat or play a few tunes and see where it goes.
