Journeyman Scaffold Erector Job Summary We are hiring Scaffold Erector Journeyman (Graduates of a Washington State approved Scaffold Erector apprenticeship program)- people who want to lead others and develop a career with the fastest growing multi-service company in the North America. The Scaffold Lead Carpenter position is for employees who want advancement opportunities while working on nationally recognized projects. Actively hiring Journeymen at refineries in Anacortes and Ferndale. Job Purpose The Scaffold Lead Carpenter is responsible for leading a crew performing erection and dismantling assignments, under the direct supervision of a scaffold competent person, and for performing all assigned tasks in accordance with BrandSafway, customer and host facility policies and procedures and Federal, State and Local Laws. Description of Essential Duties • Lead a crew in hazard recognition and mitigation, site preparation, the unloading and staging of materials and site housekeeping; • Perform general housekeeping and all assigned duties on a jobsite, as directed by supervision; • Utilize scaffold tools while erecting or dismantling a scaffold as part of a crew; • Maintain a clean and organized jobsite free from any unnecessary hazards associated with the work being performed by a scaffold crew; • Inspect scaffold components for damage and/or defects; • Organize and maintain a scaffold yard, including the unloading of racks after the dismantling of a scaffold; • While utilizing scaffold tools, participate in the erecting and dismantling of a **scaffold which includes, but is not limited to the setting up, leveling and squaring of a scaffold base, attaching bracing, horizontals, ladders, toe boards, swing gates, etc.; • Determine the materials needed for basic, intermediate and advanced scaffolds; Supervisor Responsibilities • Leading a crew during all scaffold activities; Qualification Requirements (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. These may be varied based on specific requirements of a branch or project) • Requires the ability to do basic math • Requires good oral communication skills • Requires the ability to present a clean and professional image • Requires experience using forklift, hammer, pry-bar, banding tools, power tools (i.e. drill motor, screw guns) • Scaffold experience in the commercial or industrial markets is desirable • Has an understanding of BrandSafway's products • High School Diploma, General Education Degree (GED), or equivalent • TWIC Card • Active in DISA Drug Testing Pool- Pre-Employment and Random Physical Demands (The physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.) • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and/or hear, and/or use hands and fingers to handle or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to stand, and/or walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move and/or pull up to 50 pounds (up to 100 pounds with assistance) of scaffolding equipment, which may include lifting 50 pounds (up to 100 pounds with assistance) of scaffolding above shoulders (6-7 feet) to erect and dismantle scaffolding and to load onto trucks or racks. The employee must also be capable of continuously carrying/wearing harness and work belt weighing 25-50 pounds while erecting and dismantling scaffolding. Must also be capable of climbing onto trailers or trucks and onto racks to secure and move equipment as well as climbing ladders to access scaffolding up to high, precarious places. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
