Job Purpose The Insulator 1 is responsible for safely performing all installation and removal of insulation and for assisting in the installation and removal of metal finishing as part of a crew, under the direct supervision of an insulation foreman. Description of Essential Duties Perform all installation and removal of insulation and effectively communicate with crew members and supervision; Secure insulation with banding, wire, straps etc. in accordance with requirements; Organize and maintain insulation materials at the work location and in a stock inventory area; Prepare surfaces for the installation of insulation by the use of hand and power tools; Work directly with a metal man to assist in installing and removing metal insulation covers; During insulation removal, keep the work area clean and properly dispose of removed insulation and metal; Maintain a clean and organized jobsite free from any unnecessary hazards associated with the work being performed by an insulation crew. Perform general housekeeping and all assigned duties on a jobsite, as directed by supervision. Supervisor Responsibilities None Qualification Requirements (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. These may be varied based on specific requirements of a branch or project) High School Diploma, General Education Degree (GED), or equivalent. Requires good oral communication skills and the ability to do basic math. At least one year of insulation experience is preferred. Physical Demands (The physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. ) While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and/or hear, and/or use hands and fingers to handle or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to stand, and/or walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move and/or pull up to 50 pounds (up to 100 pounds with assistance) of equipment, material and/or tools which may include lifting 50 pounds (up to 100 pounds with assistance) above shoulders (6-7 feet). The employee must also be capable of continuously carrying/wearing harness and work belt weighing 25-50 pounds while performing essential duties. Must also be capable of climbing onto trailers or trucks and onto racks to secure and move equipment as well as climbing ladders to access scaffolding up to high, precarious places. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment (The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Must be available at non-traditional hours to complete projects according to contract or job requirement. The employee regularly works in high, precarious places, is exposed to fumes, airborne particles, dust, non-weather heat, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is also regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions and may work in varying degrees of confined space. The noise level is usually moderate, but may be loud at certain times while working at construction job sites. There may be work related travel. Not offering travel pay or per diem at this time. Job Type: Full-time Pay: $17.00 - $30.00 per hour
