Description

The Machinery Rigger position prepares and assists in the disassembly, rigging, moving, securing and re-installation of machinery. Assist in the loading, securing and unloading of machinery from company or common carrier trailers. Be adept in the procedures necessary to safely and efficiently perform these functions with the proper equipment and materials such as forklifts, skates, jacks, slings, chains, shackles, etc. Operate company equipment and vehicles in a safe manner. Serve as an effective and responsible member of a team to accomplish the tasks above. Position responsibilities include: Dismantle equipment when required for repair or transportation and reassemble it at the appropriate time; Selects cables, ropes, chains, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved. Moves machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks; while avoiding contamination or workplace safety hazards; Assembles machinery and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures, using hand tools and power tools.
