Home Firearm Safety In today’s world, many are seeking different forms of protection and relief for peace of mind in the home. In this course, Ryan Skabroud, Lakeshore Technical College’s Dean of Energy & Public Safety, will help participants to understand the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for safely handling and storing firearms and ammunition in the home. Participants will be introduced to the following: NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; Primary causes of firearm accidents; Firearm parts and ammunition components; How to unload, clean, and care for firearms; How to safely store firearms in the home; And the benefits of becoming an active participant in shooting sports. Featured Instructor: Ryan Skabroud has been a Dean with Lakeshore Technical College for nearly 15 years. He works closely with the college’s Energy & Public Safety programs to ensure that graduating students are prepared to fulfill the needs of local workforces and communities. Prior to joining the college, Ryan worked as a paramedic and firefighter for 7 years. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from UW-Stout and a Master’s Degree from Silver Lake College. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys camping, hunting, and shooting. He is also the owner of Precious Metals Gunsmithing located in Two Rivers, Wisconsin.
