The City of Yakima needs a full time Custodian to work a swing shift (2:30 pm – 11:30 pm) at the City Hall building. (Hours subject to change as needed) Essential functions of this position include but are not limited to: Sweep, mop, strip, wax and buff floors, vacuum and shampoo carpeting. Wash windows and walls. Dust furniture, empty waste receptacles and dispose of waste materials. Clean and sanitize toilet facilities and replenish supplies. Clean drinking fountains and glass doors. Set up rooms for meetings; lock and unlock doors; replace light bulbs; and provide directions to the general public for specific offices and officials. May perform garbage or snow removal on city property. Requires regular and reliable attendance. Performs other related duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Six (6) months of experience performing janitorial/custodial care of offices or buildings. HS/GED or equivalent is preferred. Must pass a background investigation regarding applicant's aptitude, character, and judgment; credit, driving record and criminal history.
