TRUMBULL, CT — A total of 4,428 Trumbull residents have received at least their first coronavirus vaccine dose as of Feb. 1, according to preliminary data from the state Department of Public Health. Around 12 percent of the town's 36,673 residents has received at least one dose and about 47 percent of the 3,718 residents 75 and older have received a dose. Trumbull has had 2,291 coronavirus cases and 140 deaths among people living in the community, according to DPH. Monroe has vaccinated 8.5 percent of its population and about 39 percent of its 75 and older population. People eligible for the vaccine include frontline healthcare workers, long-term care residents and staff and people 75 and older. State officials project that residents 65 and older will be eligible to make appointments in a couple of weeks. Frontline essential workers and residents with health issues that place them at greater risk for coronavirus complications are projected to become eligible for appointments in early March, according to DPH projections.
