PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Prince George's County will celebrate Black History Month with daily virtual events throughout February. The happenings will explore a variety of aspects of Black culture. Highlights include: Feb. 3: Discussion with Black lacrosse playersFeb. 5: Talk on military heroesFeb. 9: Panel about Negro League BaseballFeb. 13: Analysis of the Black dollar in Prince George's CountyFeb. 18: Healthy soul food cooking demoFeb. 27: Family festival with performances, storytellers, crafts and a virtual marketFeb. 28: Analysis of the past, present and future of the Black Lives Matter movement Renowned dance team Step Afrika will teach a step class every Saturday. Prince George's County Public Schools and the Prince George's County Memorial Library System will also host weekly book readings for children each Saturday. To top it off, there will be daily talks about the history of health care in the Black community. Head to this website for an overview of Black History Month. "This year's national theme The Black Family: Representation, Identity and Diversity is the perfect backdrop for the past year," Parks and Recreation Director Bill Tyler said in a press release.
