New year, new neighbors at Tallgrass Creek

Tallgrass Creek in Overland Park, Kans., continues to welcome new neighbors to the senior living community developed and managed by Erickson Living. “This past year changed a lot of things but it certainly didn’t lessen interest in this community,” says Sales Director Blake Marshall. “Our guests tell us over and over that they’ve heard about the care our residents have experienced this last year and they want to know more about it firsthand.” Betty and Dave Lowe are “almost-new” community members, as they moved to Tallgrass Creek just before the pandemic escalated and residents began adhering to shelter-in-place guidelines. “We moved in to our apartment home just weeks before everything, everywhere shutdown,” says Betty, a former elementary and preschool teacher. “But we love our new home and are grateful for the care and attention we’ve received.” The Lowes moved from a large, four-bedroom house in a nearby neighborhood, where they’d lived in for 22 years. At Tallgrass Creek, they chose a spacious two-bedroom apartment home with large windows overlooking an expanse of trees and the community’s beautifully manicured landscaping. “At night, we can actually see the lights of Kansas City in the distance,” says Betty. “We have great views.” Simplifying the move When the Lowes began planning their move, they relied on Personal Moving Consultant Nancy Worthington, whose expertise has helped simplify the moves of nearly every resident at Tallgrass Creek. Worthington visited the Lowes in their former home and using their new floor plan, helped determine what items would work well in their residence at Tallgrass Creek. Betty and Dave also learned that, as one of 20 active communities managed by Erickson Living, Tallgrass Creek community members benefit from a unique program that coordinates and simplifies their moves. The program, Erickson Realty and Moving Services, connects incoming community members with local moving-related organizations that offer complimentary coordination of moving needs such as downsizing, home staging, packing, moving, and selection of real estate professionals. “We used some of the services recommended by Tallgrass Creek and it made everything much easier,” says Dave, a retired advertising executive. “We’d recommend the program to anyone.” After the Lowes sold their home, they turned to Gentle Changes, a Tallgrass Creek-recommended company that specializes in streamlined, stress-free organizing, packing, and moving. “I just sat back and watched them organize everything for our move,” says Betty. “They were so helpful.” Gentle Changes works hand in hand with C & C Relocation, a Tallgrass Creek-recommended moving company the couple also used. The Lowes found them to be efficient and careful. “Each company knew exactly what they were doing on both ends of the move,” says Dave. “They did a wonderful job.” Welcome to Fountain View More brand-new neighbors are in the process of moving to Fountain View, Tallgrass Creek’s modern new residence building that was just completed in late 2020. The five-story residence building features 132 spacious apartment homes and eight brand-new floor plans.
