Over 500 New Coronavirus Cases In Will County In 4 Days: WCHD

WILL COUNTY, IL — Will County reported 62,231 coronavirus cases on Monday, an increase of 596 since Friday, health officials said. During the same time, the county reported six deaths, bringing the total death toll to 848. While new cases are still being reported, coronavirus positivity in the county has been decreasing and is currently at 7.9 percent as of Friday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. The number of new weekly cases per 100,000 people is 263 and the target for this metric is 50 or fewer. As of Monday, state health officials lifted some coronavirus restrictions in Region 7, meaning Will County can now allow indoor dining and drinking for parties up to 10 people. The IDPH announced Region 7 (Will and Kankakee counties) is moving to Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan. To move from Tier 1 to Phase 4, Region 7 needed to have the following: Test positivity rate less than or equal to 6.5 percent for three consecutive daysStaffed ICU bed availability greater than 20 percent for three consecutive daysNo sustained increase in COVID-19 patients in hospitals As of Saturday, the test positivity in the region is at 6.1 percent and availability of ICU beds is at 30 percent as of Monday.
