CONCORD, NH — Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski may not play for the New England Patriots any longer but sports bettors in New Hampshire like their chances in Super Bowl LV. The New Hampshire Lottery said on Tuesday that nearly two-thirds of wagers made by bettors in the state have been in support of the Tampa Buccaneers. The rest of the nation, however, a whopping 78 percent of bettors, think the Kansas City Chiefs will win. The state said Granite State sports bettors have been picking Tampa Bay ever since Brady joined the team through "futures" bets taken until the two teams were decided. The lottery earned around $331,000 from futures bets this year connected to the Super Bowl — with about $84,000 bet on Tampa Bay making it, the most of any team. Did you like this story? Some have bet that Brady will win the MVP title while others have picked Gronk to score the first touchdown. Some also bet Brady will throw at least three touchdowns. "It hurts to not have the Patriots in the playoffs this year, but it is a pretty nice consolation prize for our players and sports fans to have the GOAT, Tom Brady, playing in yet another Super Bowl, even if it is for a different team," Charlie McIntyre, the executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery, said. "It is not surprising New Hampshire sports bettors have come out in full force to bet the Buccaneers, as we have seen players betting Tampa Bay throughout the season and that activity has increased as the season has progressed." McIntyre wished players "good luck" as well as luck to Brady, too. DraftKings became the state's vendor in December 2019 and bettors have placed more than 9 million bets during that time period valued at $348 million. Two retail sports betting locations have also opened in Manchester and Seabrook. For more information, visit the state's sports mobile betting site here. Super Bowl LV airs at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.
