RIVERSIDE, CA — The University of California, Riverside has become the first public university in California to offer students an extension program dedicated to the cannabis industry, according to a report from the Orange County Register. Eric Latham, the school's director of program development, told the paper that the growing movement to legalize, both recreational and medicinally, across the United States made him realize the need for classes to help potential employees find jobs in the growing industry. "With the legalization of cannabis, it just seemed like an opportunity where our program might fit into a need that people might have," he said in an interview with the Register. Seventy-five people are currently enrolled in the program, which is taken entirely online, according to the report. Read more about the marijuana program at UC Riverside on the Register's website.
