Marin County Seeks Input On Corte Madera Creek Project

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Marin County residents can now review a draft copy online of the environmental impact report for the Corte Madera Creek Flood Risk Management Project. The report provides an overview of what may potentially happen to the surrounding area if the county were to go forward with the project, which seeks to reduce the recurrence and damage of flooding in the communities of Ross, Kentfield and Larkspur. The draft also includes three alternatives for the projects — two that looks at reducing its size and scope while the other looks at the reduction of certain building materials, according to a statement from county officials. Residents will have until March 17 to review the draft report and provide public comment on it to the county, officials said. Comments can be emailed to the county directly or mailed to the attention of Project Manage Joanna Dixon at P.O. Box 4186, San Rafael, CA 94913. Community members will also have a chance to provide input on the project during an online public hearing held by the District Board of Supervisors and scheduled for March 2. Officials said a final environmental impact report based on the submitted public comments could potentially be released in July with construction on the project possibly starting in 2022.
