ELMHURST, IL — Two men battered a woman while she was trying to stop them from shoplifting Saturday at an Elmhurst grocery store, according to a police report. The incident happened about 4:30 p.m. at Mariano's, 678 N. York St. In the confrontation, the suspects dropped the stolen merchandise and ran away, the report said. They left in a black older model SUV. Officers checked the area, but were unable to find the men. The first suspect was described as Hispanic, 5 feet, 6 inches, 150 pounds, and wearing a black coat, dark pants, a black winter-type hat and a face mask. The second one was described as black, 5 feet, 8 inches, 150 pounds, and wearing a beige coat or sweatshirt, dark pants, a black beanie cap and a face mask.
