ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving a stolen truck, a familiar suspect, gun charges, a car break-in, a hospital confrontation, a scam, DUIs and driving violations. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Stolen truck A Freightliner Cascadia truck was stolen about 10 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of Riverside Drive. Video footage showed a man enter the truck and drive it away. Familiar suspect Three women stole clothing about 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. They left in a gold Chevrolet Impala or Malibu. A store employee recognized one of the suspects from a previous retail theft. An officer contacted the suspect, who admitted to the theft. Charges are pending. Gun charges Michael Staron, 22, of Palos Park, was arrested about 3:30 a.m. Sunday at Elmhurst University, 190 S. Prospect, on charges of carrying a weapon while under the influence of alcohol and carrying a concealed weapon on university property. He was released on bond. According to a police report, police came into contact with Staron as part of a well-being check. Car break-in Two people broke into a car about 3:30 a.m. Jan. 24 at My Mechanic, 285 E. Butterfield Road. The car's locks were tampered with and damaged. Video footage shows a white SUV, possibly an BMW, pulling into the parking lot and two suspects getting out. The investigation is pending. Hospital confrontation A person became confrontational with employees about 4:30 a.m. Sunday at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road. The person, who had refused to leave, was given a no-trespass notice and released. Scam A woman received an email from someone posing as the president of the Elmhurst Bicycle Club on Jan. 25. The email requested that she send money for new equipment. The woman complied and transferred money to a PayPal account. After she sent the money, she learned the email was fraudulent. She filed a police report three days later. Belongings missing A woman said her Hertz rental car was towed because the key fob wasn't working Jan. 21 in the 200 block of North York Street. It was towed to a location in Chicago. Upon visiting the location to pick up her belongings, she noticed several items missing from the car's trunk. Well-being check A resident called police Thursday about a neighbor she had not seen for a long time. The neighbor's mail was piling up, and the snow had not been shoveled. Officers gained entry into the home and spoke with the neighbor, who said she had been staying inside because of the weather. DUI Kameron Crawford, 20, of Carol Stream, was arrested about 11 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of North York on charges of DUI (drugs), unlawful possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle and improper lane usage. He was released on bond. Cody W. Gunnell, 26, of Aurora, was arrested about 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of Willow on charges of DUI, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, speeding and disobeying a stop sign. He was released on bond. Brandon Lopez, 25, of Wheaton, was arrested about 5:30 a.m. Friday at Route 83 and West St. Charles on charges of DUI, improper lane usage, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. Driving violations Matthew Thomas Blaho, 19, of Westchester, was cited about 8 p.m. Friday at Riverside and Route 83 on charges of possession of marijuana by a person under 21 and tinted windows. In the same stop, Anthony Harris, 20, of Romeoville, and Johnathan Zuniga-Benitez, 19, of Addison were cited on charges of possession of marijuana by a person under 21. They were released on bond.Samuel Halwaji, 19, of Riverside, was cited about 1 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles and Fair on charges of possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He as released on bond. Rafael Davila, 40, of Villa Park, was cited about 6 p.m. Saturday at Grand and County Line on charges of driving with a suspended license and speeding. He was released on bond. Fredy Lopez, 18, of Elgin, was cited about 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Lake and Grand on charges of no valid driver's license, wrong way driving and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was relased on bond. Amilcar Ramos-Jimenez, 23, of Elmhurst, was cited about 8 a.m. Sunday at Grand and County Line on charges of failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released on bond. Aniel Herrera-Garcia, 19, of Melrose Park, was cited about 1 a.m. Monday at North and West on charges of driving with a suspended license and improper lane usage. She was released on bond. Terrell Frazier, 36, of Chicago, was cited about 4 a.m. Monday in the 600 block of North York on charges of driving with a revoked license and tinted windows. He was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt.
