RMC and the City of Oxford will be providing round two COVID vaccine shots. COVID Vaccine Distribution - Oxford AlabamaBeginning Feb. 8, the state plans to offer vaccines at multiple sites across the state for people age 65 and up and people in some essential professions. Here’s what we know so far: Who will be eligible for a vaccine? People age 65 and up and people in the following jobs:First respondersCorrections officersFood and agriculture workersU.S. Postal Service workersManufacturing workersGrocery store workersPublic transit workersPeople who work in the education sector (teachers, support staff, community college and higher education)Childcare workersJudiciary (including but not limited to) circuit judges, district judges and district attorneys Do I have to live in Anniston to get a vaccine here? No. The regional sites are intended for people who live in multi-county areas surrounding each site, but local officials say there is not likely to be any residency requirement. Do I need to bring proof of age, profession or insurance? That’s not clear yet. Local officials say they’re awaiting guidance from state health officials. What should I bring with me? Please bring an identification (with birthdate) to your appointment for check in. Non-hospital healthcare workers should also present a valid proof of employment (employer ID, paystub, etc.). Proof of Alabama residency or semi-residency is also required, by way of mortgage, lease agreement, utility bill or any other documentation that provides proof of residential address. Upon arrival, individuals have an opportunity to read and sign the vaccine waiver, then will be called to the vaccination area. Administering the vaccine generally takes no longer than 5 minutes. All individuals receiving vaccines will be asked to wait in an observation area for 15-30 minutes with medical staff to ensure there are no adverse initial reactions. Those receiving the vaccine may experience some side effects such as: pain at the injection site, fever, chills, tiredness, headache, and/or body aches.
