UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A water main break on the Upper West Side Tuesday morning caused extensive delays for subways in the neighborhood. The main rupture happened around 5:30 a.m. between 96th and 103rd Streets, according to the MTA. Specifically, 2 trains ran on the 5 line between 149th Street and Nevins Street, 1 trains ran exclusively between 137th Street and Van Cortlandt Park, and all 3 train service was halted. The three trains resumed normal stops in both directions around 9 a.m., but the MTA said to expect major delays in both directions still. 1/2/3 trains have resumed normal stops in both directions after emergency teams addressed a water main break near 96 St.Expect extensive delays in both directions as we get trains back on schedule.Consider using A/C/D trains for alternate service on the west side of Manhattan. https://t.co/hreuw85wvx— NYCT Subway.
