The Shop Technician position, under the direction of the Business Manager (or designate), is responsible to perform general labor duties which includes some fabrication, hydraulics, assembly and mechanical. such as cleaning & organization of the shop work areas, operating equipment required to complete tasks, and making sure all assignments are carried out in a proficient and safe manner. Key Responsibilities: Key aspects of the position may include, but are not limited to: Must have expertise/knowledge & experience in: Assembly / Hydraulics / Mechanics Welding & Fabrication Must be able to properly prepare materials using grinders and sanders, etc. Knowledge and proper use of Mig / tig welding, plasma cutting & acetylene torch. Mechanical expertise Hydraulics, PTO, Pumps and drive lines. Experience of assembly and installation of truck, trailers and heavy equipment. Basic electrical, hydraulic, welding and fabrication certifications / training, or equivalent Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment/tools (clean, lubricate, repair, etc) Responsible for inspecting quality of own work Assemble, relocate and store parts, materials and products in designated areas Maintain a safe and clean working environment Must understand and wear proper PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials common to the trade Must be mechanically inclined Must have own shop tools Ability to deal effectively & courteously with everyone Extreme safety awareness Reliable attendance is critical Ability to follow oral and written instructions Ability to read a tape measure Must possess a strong work ethic and be self-motivated Ability to work in a close team environment but also able to work independently Ability to: stand for long periods of time, kneel, stoop, crouch & crawl Must be physically able to lift & carry heavy objects using proper lifting techniques for items up to 55lbs Ability to pay careful attention to detail Must be able to work in a fast paced, quality environment.
