PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Instead of a snow day, Port Washington students will be getting a remote learning day on Monday, according Schools Superintendent Michael Hynes. The district will shift to remote learning on Monday due to the impending snow storm, Hynes informed the district's community in a notification email this morning. The district does not have any more snow days left to use, Hynes said, adding, "I know our students will still go outside and have some fun following their instruction." Hynes went on to credit school district staff for their "understanding and flexibility" as the district makes the "pivot to remote instruction." He asked that students and parents continue to follow "established protocols, stress the importance of social distancing, practice healthy hand hygiene and wear a mask," during remote learning. The Port Washington School District shifted to remote learning in early January after an increase in staff members testing positive for COVID-19, as well as those quarantining at home due to exposure.
