Phase 2 Coronavirus Vaccine Coming To Stoughton Thursday

STOUGHTON, MA — Phase 2 of the state's coronavirus vaccine rollout is slated to begin Thursday in Stoughton. But there will be a limited number of vaccines available to start, according to town officials. Town Manager Robin Grimm in a statement said the town only has enough doses to vaccinate 50 residents over 75. Grimm said those people will be getting called Monday to schedule appointments. Calls will be made based on eligibility and then on first come-first serve basis, as names were left on the hot- line. "If you do not get called, it means that there were at least 50 people ahead of you," Grimm said. "We are hoping to have more vaccine coming very soon, and we will keep up the process. We have over 1,400 people who have called into the hotline to leave names." The second phase of the state's vaccination plan starts with people over 75 and then moves to people over 65 and those with two or more significant health conditions (comorbidities). Later in phase 2 includes teachers, grocery workers, transportation employees and other essential workers. The last part of Phase 2 is people with one comorbidity. Health officials set up a Covid-19 vaccine hotline, where residents can leave their name and call back information. Town officials said no appointments can be scheduled until the town has vaccine doses in hand. The hotline number is 781-341-1300, extension 9255. Town officials said Stoughton plans to use the Stoughton Council on Aging at 110 Rockland Street for vaccine clinics. Once dates are determined, they will be posted on the state's vaccination site map and on the town website.
