Teen Fell Through Thin Ice At Canaan Lake In North Patchogue

NORTH PATCHOGUE, NY — A Medford teenager was hospitalized after falling through thin ice at Canaan Lake in North Patchogue Sunday afternoon, according to Suffolk police. The 17-year-old fell through the ice 50 feet from the shore off of Vehslage Street, near Old North Ocean Avenue, at 3:30 p.m. The teen was able to pull himself out of the water within a few minutes of falling. He was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for non-life-threatening injuries. The North Patchogue Fire Department was also on scene.
