NEWTON, MA — Former Rep. Joe Kennedy, who lives in Newton, will be a commentator on CNN. Kennedy represented the 4th Congressional District for years before throwing his hat in the ring to challenge Sen. Ed Markey for his seat in Congress. After he lost in November, Kennedy said he had no plans any time soon to run for office again. Instead, he began the nonprofit "Groundwork Project," in effort to support unlikely political races. "We're directing resources, attention, and support to the local advocates and state-based organizations doing the deep, long-term organizing that Democrats need to build a more diverse party, expand its base, win elections, and deliver progressive policy reforms," according to the organization. On Jan. 29, he announced he joined CNN as a commentator: Excited to join the @CNN team. Tune in tonight at 5:30p to hear me talk with @wolfblitzer about the path ahead on COVID relief.— Joe Kennedy III (@joekennedy) January 29, 2021 Kennedy represented the 4th Congressional District from 2013 to 2021.
