SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — The Department of Health in Sarasota County has notified those eligible for their second dose of the coronavirus vaccine that they are hosting a second-dose vaccine clinic Thursday and Friday at Sarasota Square Mall, Steve Huard, public information officer said in a DOH video shared on YouTube. Those eligible for these appointments received their first dose from the DOH between Jan. 4 and 8, Chuck Henry, Sarasota's DOH health officer, said in a second video update released Monday. The DOH is also administering 3,600 first doses of the vaccine in clinics at the Sarasota Square Mall Tuesday and Wednesday. The county received 3,300 doses from the state this week and also have 300 doses left over from Friday's clinic because of no-show appointments, Henry said. More than 40,000 people have received at least their first dose of the two-shot series, Huard said. As of Monday morning, there were 115,981 accounts in the county's Everbridge vaccination registration system, Henry said. The county's Emergency Services Director Rich Collins said many of these accounts are for two people. Additionally, there are many duplicate accounts and those that haven't been completed. People can also register by calling 941-861-VAXS (8297). By registering, you're entering your name into a queue. As doses are available, the county will contact people based on their place in the queue.
