multi-family zoning on Jericho Tpke is unchallenged. It includes the land around Trailer City and Alcamo pools, which are felt to be suitable for an apartment complex in the future.
There is also a proposed park designation that shall apply to playgrounds and parks. Currently parks are designated/zoned as single family residential even though no changes could be implemented without approval from the NY legislature, under the Parkland Alienation Laws.
There were stated objections to the heavy industry zoning designation on north Townline Rd. by various civic associations. The President of the Commack Community Association, Bob Semprini ; Four Towns Civic Association Board member , Christine Schultz and a representative from the Fort Salonga Civic Association spoke well at the zoom meeting. This zoning change would legalize various asphalt businesses and a sand pit on this section of Townline rd., that have been operating there for years despite fines imposed by the Township. The tractor trailer traffic dangers were discussed too.
